I can't.
The space you left inside my heart,
The gaps, will always be a part
Of my memory bank.
There is no way to thank
The God that made you who you were
Our magical wonderful dog,with fur
Of black and shiny silken curls
So biddable, so loving too
So full of fun and tricks to please.

I miss you so. I just don't know how
To get past this sadness, move onward now
To remember you with joy
The way you played with bunny toy
In "hands" and feet and threw it in the air.
You had us trained so well
We couldn't tell
If you were just forgetting or
We left your food beside the door
Again!
Your sumptuous bed is empty and
No matter how many cushions lie
On it I'll always see in my minds eye
Your long dog body, feet in air
You'll still be there.
The door bell rings, no barking now
No sound to warn us of a visit.
How will we know there's someone there
Standing in the rain?
When will there be no pain?
That time will come again
But we will always miss you.
